What exactly is the difference between having a Facebook Business Page and a Facebook group and do you need to have both?
I'll be honest with you, I have only recently set up my Facebook group. I have used a business page ever since launching both of my businesses and I have successfully grown organically with both of them. Just recently, you may have noticed your reach has dropped dramatically and this is because Facebook want you to connect more with your magic customers and build relationships with people online. This isn't something to be annoyed about because we don't own our pages. We are lucky to live in a time where we can market our business for free but we do have to adapt to the changes that are constantly being made on social media platforms. With this in mind, I want to talk through what you should be using your business page for and what a Facebook group can do for you too. Facebook Business page:
Facebook Group:
So should you have both a page and a group or one or the other? Small businesses should have both! As stated above, your page is where people find you like they would with your website, it's where they get to know you and what you have to offer and you use this to filter the fans into your community group. Inside the group is where you grow your community, build relationships and interact together like one big party! Therefore, your content will be different for both where it can be. You still need to have engaging posts on your business page that gets your audience talking but you also need conversation starters in your group so that the group have prompts to interact amongst each other. It's a tricky one to master and one that even I am still getting used to after having successful organic growth on my business pages and my clients. But Facebook groups are vital these days to keep your audience engaged and involved all under one roof. I hope this has been helpful, please let me know if you are about to set up a Facebook group or if you already have one!
