Running a business is tough and we don't receive a guide book to do it when we first set up.
We have enough to be doing in the business without having to add more work to our list.
However, one of the most vital things a business can have is a blog, even if you don't think this applies to you.
I have been writing a blog for my other business for the past 6 years and it has helped my business immensely and it is the reason why I am so passionate about making other businesses aware of the benefits of blogging.
Here are the main reasons why having a blog can be one of the best things you do for your business:
1 - HELPS TO BE SEEN - you may have heard of the term SEO or keywords when it comes to your website and these are the terms the people type into Google to help you come up in the search. Having a blog will help increase your visibility on Google as you will be writing about topics related to what your audience want help with and therefore when they type this into Google, you will have a better chance of coming up. Google also picks up on how often you post and how active the blog is which is great if your blog is attached to your business website.
2 - PLACES YOU AS AN EXPERT IN YOUR FIELD - more than often you will find your competitors are probably not blogging. I know mine definitely are not! Which puts us at an advantage. By blogging regularly about topics you know about, this will ultimately lead to people seeing you as an expert in your field, resulting in your clients coming to you first because they know and trust you.
3 - HELPS YOU WITHE FUTURE CONTENT - having a blog will also help you come up with future content ideas for your social media. Don't just post your blog out there and hope for the best. You can breakdown the content from the blog and spread it out across our platforms with memes, videos, photos etc so you are consistent.
4 - KEEPS YOU IN MIND - with so much information being fed into our news feeds it is hard to stand out and be different. By blogging for your business, this will help you stay in people's minds because you're being consistent. It's easy to just post one blog out there and hope for the best, but you have to be posting a blog at least once a month for people to start remembering you and building up a trusting relationship with your audience.
5 - PUTS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON YOUR BUSINESS - some of us focus so much on selling that it is easy to get lost about what our audience really need help with. By blogging for your business, you will gain a new perspective as to what you offer, the content you want to talk about and who you're trying to attract. It will open up your eyes to different subjects and topics that you forgot were relevant to your business!
There is no excuse to not blog, even if you don't have time, you can outsource to an expert, including myself!
Whether you're a product or service based business, there is s much help and you can give to your audience, they are just waiting for you to click publish!
